Job Title: HR Processor IV - Generalist

 

Location: Teacher Administrative Center (T.A.C.), 3215 Cuming Street, Omaha, NE 68131- Human Resources

 

Reports To: HR Administrator

 

Work Schedule/FLSA Status: 261 day 12-month / Non-exempt

 

Salary Schedule: This is a full-time non-negotiated position.

 

Position Purpose: The HR processor will provide versatile and reliable support across multiple areas of the Human Resources (HR) department to ensure seamless operations during periods of increase workload, staff absences, or special projects. This individual will assist with various projects related to hiring using Human Resources Information Systems, including but not limited to Frontline Absence Management, PeopleSoft HCM, and Talent Ed.  Demonstrates willingness to gain further system and product knowledge.  Must maintain strong standards and professional ethics. 

 

Essential Performance Responsibilities:

  • Adheres to strong standards of professional ethics and confidentiality when relating to staff, administration, and community.
  • Perform a variety of responsible clerical, technical, administrative, and office support duties in support of District hiring.
  • Provide support processing new employee records during critical hiring peaks.
  • Provide customer service, both in-person and by telephone; screen and direct telephone calls; take and relay messages; answer questions from employees and the general public as appropriate other requests for information.
  • Maintain database for District Volunteers
  • Assists in absence tracking of teachers, substitutes, principals, and assistant principals, paraprofessionals as needed. 
  • Help and maintain database for the Subdesk
  • Provides daily exemplary customer service to substitutes and school users.
  • Assists with time reporting and payroll related data on a weekly and monthly basis for payroll processing according to designated payroll deadlines, as needed. 
  • Request references and background checks, send appropriate correspondence, and assist with managing and maintenance of applicant files.
  • Assist with analyzing and evaluating data, interpreting findings, and preparing reports to support processes in Human Resources. 
  • Assist with preparation and execution of hiring events, including interview fairs and recruiting events. 
  • Exhibits interpersonal skills pertinet to build positive human relationships with all District staff and community resources. 
  • Possess skills pertinent to positive human relationships and ability to work effectively with staff members as well as the many publics in a multicultural urban setting.
  • Knowledge of company's mission, purpose, goals and the role of every employee in achieving each of them.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor(s)

Additional Duties Performs other related tasks as assigned by supervisor, Chief Talent Officer or Superintendent.

 

Equipment: This position requires the ability to use basic office equipment such as computers, copiers, scanners, LCD projectors, and other office-related equipment. Must always comply with OPS’s guidelines for equipment use.

 

Travel: Limited local travel may be required.

Interrelations:

  • Contact with personnel within the district and with customers and vendors.
  • Will be working under the direct supervision of the Chief Talent Officer in order to complete day-to-day tasks.
  • Will be working with a diverse population requiring the ability to handle all situations with tact and diplomacy.
  • Must understand and respond appropriately to customer needs and maintain a positive attitude with all customers and colleagues.
  • Expected to interact with all internal and external customers in a friendly, professional manner and provide quick, responsive customer service.

Employee Punctuality and Appearance:

  • In order for schools to operate effectively, employees are expected to perform all assigned duties and work all scheduled hours during each designated workday, unless the employee has received approved leave.
  • Any deviation from assigned hours must have prior approval from the employee’s supervisor or building administrator.
  • All employees are required to report to work dressed in a manner that reflects a positive image of Omaha Public Schools and is appropriate for their position.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Associates degree or equivalent combination of experience and training, preferred.
  • Advanced skills in computer/technology/systems.
  • PeopleSoft and Talent Ed experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated technology skills with Microsoft Office Suite to include Office 365, Word, and Excel.
  • Outstanding oral and written communication skills
  • Detail-oriented with excellent analytical and problem-solving skill.
  • Ability to effectively manage time and a variety of responsibilities.
  • Knowledge of data privacy practices and laws; experience with windows-based computing environment.
  • Ability to communicate at a high level, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to deal with confidential matters.
  • Capable of working effectively and cooperatively with people from diverse ethnic and educational backgrounds.
  • Ability to organized, detail oriented, and a self-motivator.
  • Ability to perform a variety of tasks, changing assignments on short notice, performing under deadlines with pressure, ability to work in a calm and efficient manner.
  • Ability to work as a productive team member.
  • Displays a significant degree of professionalism and confidentiality.
  • Ability to conform to proper standards of professional dress and appearance.

 

Terms of Employment

 

This position is treated as a full-time non-exempt classified position. The terms of your employment will be governed by applicable state laws regulating employment in a Nebraska public school and Board of Education policies, as those laws and policies may change from time to time. If your position is represented by a collective bargaining representative, then your employment will also be governed by a negotiated agreement between OPS and that collective bargaining representative.

 

 

The offer of employment is contingent upon:

 

  • Obtaining and providing verification of all licenses, certificates, and other requirements for the position (e.g., Paraprofessionals obtaining “Highly Qualified status,” etc.), as identified and maintaining all licenses, certificates, and requirements for your position throughout employment.
  • A background check which demonstrates to OPS that background is acceptable for the position.
  • Verification of U.S. citizenship or legal authorization to work in the United States.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (if required for position offered).
  • Successful completion of a tuberculosis skin test (if required for position offered).
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment medical examination to determine ability to safely and effectively perform the essential functions of the position.
