Job Title:  School Nurse

 

Location: Central High School, 124 North 20th Street, Omaha, NE 68102

 

Reports To: Building Principal

 

Work Schedule/FLSA Status: 10 months/188 duty days (August-May) / per negotiated agreement / Exempt

Salary Schedule: Salary credit may be awarded for applicable experience.  Placement on the salary schedule will follow the applicable negotiated agreement.

 

2024/25: Step 1 with a Bachelor's Degree: $50,500 / Step 1 with a Master's Degree: $57,050 

2025/26: Step 1 with a Bachelor's Degree: $51,200 / Step 1 with a Master's Degree: $57,820  

 

Position Purpose:  The school nurse protects and promotes student health, facilitates optimal development, and supports academic success.  School nurses are grounded in ethical and evidence-based practice and are the leaders who bridge health care and education, provide care coordination, advocate for quality student-centered care, and collaborate to a design system that allows individuals and communities to develop their full potential.

Additional Duties
Performs other related tasks as assigned by the Central Office Administrators as designated by the Superintendent.

          

Equipment:  This position may require the ability to use assistive technology in addition to basic office equipment such as computers, copiers, scanners, and fax machine.  Must always comply with OPS’s guidelines for equipment use.

 

Travel:  Limited travel may be required.

Terms of Employment

This position is treated as a full-time exempt certified position. The terms of your employment will be governed by applicable state laws regulating employment or teaching in a Nebraska public school and Board of Education policies, as those laws and policies may change from time to time, and the Teacher Contract. If your position is represented by a collective bargaining representative, then your employment will also be governed by a negotiated agreement between OPS and that collective bargaining representative.
